Hemp bedding…Yes, you heard right. Did you know that because hemp is a very breathable fabric that it makes for a more pleasant night’s sleep?
I have a little dog that likes to snuggle up to me at night and if you have one like that, then you know exactly what I am talking about. They are like little furnaces.
For years, I have tossed and turned in the middle of the night, kicking the covers off because I am too hot, then pulling them back up because I am too cold and this went on all night long. So, it’s no wonder I never felt rested.
If you are thinking, why don’t you just sleep with a fan on? I did and still do, but mostly for the noise now. I think it’s because when I was a baby my mom always had the fan on when I slept.
I even purchased one of those bed jets, but my husband complained because he is the total opposite of me in the body temperature department so that rarely got used.
I have even tried the pillows that say they are cool, you know, the really expensive ones. So, I thought, okay, I’m just going to try out a hemp pillow case to start with.
Well, of course, it turns out I should have just went with the whole hemp bedding set to start out with. Love it! Needless to say, I bought the whole set and now we are both sleeping on cloud 9.
This works out great for both my husband and myself because I don’t know if you know this or not, but hemp fabric also works with your body temperature.
If you are hot, it cools you and if you are cold, it warms you. This way we are both comfortable and get a good night’s sleep.
Not only do I sleep better because I’m not going through my nightly ritual, but hemp fabric also gets softer with each wash. I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for softness. I have to admit, I can’t pass by a fleece blanket or fleece anything without buying it.
These hemp sheets are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Hemp fiber wicks moisture away, allowing you to get a restful night’s sleep.
If you happen to be at that wonderful stage in your life ladies or if, unfortunately, you suffer from some type of a condition, this is absolutely the remedy. I bet my mom wished these were around in her day.
Another thing I found out is the older I get the more allergies I seem to have. Since hemp is naturally hypoallergenic and has natural antiviral and antibacterial properties, this is the perfect choice for allergy and asthma sufferers.
One thing to keep in mind is that hemp fabric is very durable and will last a long time. The saying with hemp material is, “it doesn’t wear out, it wears in”, making this my bedding of choice.
Some people may find the hemp bedding a little rough to start out with, but after just a couple washes, they are as cozy and soft as flannel.
Now doesn’t that just make you want to grab yourself a nice cup of hemp tea or hemp coffee and snuggle into bed with a good book?
When hemp fabric is moist or wet, it is stronger so it won’t wear with repeated washings, but don’t dry on a high heat. Hemp is naturally porous, which causes the fabric to dry much quicker so you want to be sure to dry it on a low heat.
Hemp is also very eco-friendly in that it doesn’t need herbicides, pesticides or fungicides and requires a modest amount of water. This wonderful hemp plant does not exhaust the soil. Instead, it aerates and builds topsoil. Hemp is used as a good rotational crop because it doesn’t have a negative impact on the soil and actually cleans the land of weeds.
